The new location of the Labyrinth stage (more on that in a minute) also made it very conducive for bassheads to stay at the top of the hill and enjoy the curated Deadbeats and Bassrush stages. If you were like me and were waiting for the madness of DJ Snake, you might have been very pleasantly surprised by artists like Chris Lorenzo and Dr. The main stage is obviously meant to appeal to the widest possible audience, but house reigned supreme all weekend. However, this year’s lineup was also very highly curated, as each stage seemed to cater to very specific tastes. Insomniac lineups never disappoint and this year’s Nocturnal was no different featuring some of the biggest names in dance music like DJ Snake, Jauz, Zeds Dead, Zomboy, Deorro, Malaa, Alan Walker and more.

I didn’t camp this year, though I have in the past, and it’s absolutely delightful. That’s part of its charm, as America’s longest running rave it’s a comfortable home for ravers young and old. Although there were some slight tweaks to the layout of the festival this year, Nocturnal has stayed relatively unchanged since it scaled down to two days in 2017. 80,000 headliners descended upon Glen Helen Regional Park to celebrate the festival’s final edition at the venue. She's seen shows at every major concert venue in Southern California, but most special was when Paul McCartney played the high-desert roadhouse Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown for a couple hundred fans in October 2016.The 24th edition of Nocturnal Wonderland, America’s longest running rave, went down last weekend in San Bernardino, CA. In June 2019, Poynter wrote about Vanessa and the Southern California News Group Entertainment Squad's approach to covering local entertainment journalism. She has reported on everything from the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to the MLB All-Star Game as a reporter, photographer, videographer and on-camera personality. Vanessa became the pop culture reporter at The Press-Enterprise in Riverside in 2006 and later took on the music and casinos beats prior to becoming the Features Editor and then Assistant Managing Editor overseeing features and sports. Vanessa graduated from Boston University with a journalism degree and her first newspaper job was in her home state of Maryland working at The Capital in Annapolis, where she was a general assignment and breaking news reporter. Vanessa Franko is the Digital Director of Entertainment and Features for the Southern California News Group. The Nocturnal Wonderland website says that “State and County health officers strongly recommend that attendees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, obtain a negative COVID-19 viral test prior to attending the event, and wear a face mask while in attendance.” Ticket prices weren’t listed, but the festival is offering a $9.99 deposit. Tickets for Nocturnal Wonderland go on sale at noon Friday, July 16, and guests must be 18 or older. Insomniac has long held major events in San Bernardino County, including the recent Day Trip house music festival at the NOS Event Center, which will also host the upcoming sold-out Hard Summer fest at the end of this month and Beyond Wonderland in August. This will be the final Nocturnal at Glen Helen, according to the event’s website, although the promoter had previously said 2019 would be the final year at the venue, because of a midnight noise curfew. Nocturnal Wonderland, which started in 1995 in Los Angeles and also includes art installations, will also have camping at the site, which is adjacent to the Glen Helen Amphitheater.
